BATHROOM LIGHT FIXTURE IN SUSHI RESTAURANT
SPRING THIRD YEAR
PROGRAMS USED: REVIT, PHOTOSHOP
Seaweed, or nori when referring to sushi, is one of the most important elements that goes into sushi making.  The seaweed acts as the outside boundary that holds the roll together.  The roll of seaweed is crucial to the craft of the sushi.  The light fixture is represented by the seaweed leaves and the reproductive seeds of the seaweed.
Iodized copper was used for the 3” wide pieces to simulate the color of seaweed.  Polished copper cylindrical rods was used to create contrast and depict the more stringy part of the seaweed.  The rods are hollow allowing the wiring to run from the wall, through the tube to get to the LED bulbs that are encased in a glass shell.  The glass balls with the LED lights inside simulate the seed parts of the seaweed.  Each piece is attached to both walls.  The intersections between the planes are supposed to represent the freedom of how the seaweed flows in the water.  The way the light interacts with the pieces of the fixture allows shadow to play below and above the fixture, but still shines light out directly on the users face.
